Grand Prix Scoring and
Rules Changes
Starting this year – every
finisher earns points regardless of their time or place! This means you can
have competitions within your office, neighborhood, or with a friendly (or
not-so-friendly) rival. The men’s and women’s winners will each earn 1,000
points (no separate overall and age group scoring). Your score will be
determined by dividing your time into the winner’s time and multiplying by
1000. For example, the winner of the 5K runs 15:00 and you run 24:00. 15.0 /
24.0 = .625 x 1,000 = 625. You would receive 625 points in this example. You
must run 3 of the 5 events to receive an award and the top 4 scores will count
– only one will be thrown out.
Prize money and sponsorships will
be offered to the Top 5 Male and Female point winners. The Top 3 in each Male
and Female Age Divisions will also earn special hand picked awards from our
sponsors. 2005 promises to be the most exciting year yet for the Second Empire
Grand Prix Series and we are excited to bring you these changes.
What are the divisions?
Overall: Top five receive prize
money
Male / Female age groups: 21-24,
25-29, five year increments to 55-59, then 60+. Top 3 receive awards.
If a birthday during the season
causes you to move to another age group, the age group in which you earn the
most points will determine your age group in the Grand Prix competition.
Points will carry forward or back.
